So the oddity is my hearing since childhood not so good. I read this comment and recognize I could not say this. My hearing hears no color well enough to deeply distinguish. My senses are unwoken. “This one Overture presents one of the greatest examples of true genius in the use of orchestral color. The apparent shift in meter toward the end is stupendous!”
Before the Haïdouks organized themselves as a group, many of them were recorded on an ethnomusicological album:
Musique des Tsiganes de Valachie; les lăutari de Clejani (1988) [OCORA 3149025011190]
The following albums were produced by Fundaţia Alexandru Tzigara-Samurcas in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bucharest, in association with Euroart, the cultural fund of the Department for European Integration of the Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs of Romania.
The End of the Millenium [sic] in the Romanian Village / Fin de Millénaire dans le Village Roumain / Sfârșit de mileniu în satul Românesc, a collection of recordings from 1989–97, released in 2000, with liner notes in English, French, and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanian_language. Only some of the musicians on these recordings are affiliated with the taraf, but several, some from other villages, have toured with them.
Outlaws of Yore / Les 'Haïdouks' d'Autrefois, two volumes (labeled "I" and "II"), recorded at the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Museum_of_the_Romanian_Peasant, Bucharest, March 1991, released in 2001, with liner notes in English and French.
i make funny little tunes, I cling to them....i no longer wonder why....now.......they are mine, my little tunes.....i treasure them like no other......more than a lover....
I spent some years forming bands of both music readers and non readers. Few can straddle both worlds. We all start in the ear or in the eye, and this divides us. Since I realized, i have followed the ear, preferred the ear. It is serving me, as music by logic did start with those that did not read it. I keep it in mind, though I was brought through the reading channel, 20 years departing brings me along....
I'm glad you found some work.
Enjoy the New Year.
Pangloss. Funny. Like Christians? Maybe I should read Candide. Was assigned in 7th grade, but it escaped me.
Dr. All Gloss. For sure worth time. Wit is timeless. Covid Candide would be very funny.
