When I visited Portland last, 1997 in late summer, I observed the grunge scene was big. I shrugged as an old hippie. I was more astonished by clear cuts.
I’m a child of my own design and my riddle is that the child survived the design and the 2020 Hysteria smiling on my back at the foot of the ladder ready to climb again in the wind.
It could be said that there is a direct and simultaneously meandering line between Constantine's famous sword and the power-and-control-seeking institutional religioisty of the institutional church. And what about the various Christian based empires - especially the "holy" Roman empire. And of course the British and now-time American empires too.
It could also quite rightly be said the principal (unconscious) purpose and thrust of the entire Western cultural project in both its "religious" and secular forms is to gain and exercise total control over everyone and everything thing.
It could also be said that ALL of the above is the inevitable manifestation of the intrinsically godless "creator- god" paradigm/idelogy. Which if properly understood is quite primitive and terrifying in its all-the-way-down-the-line cultural implications.
