Quite strange. 1914 onwards. I think by this moment everything snapped into place and the British Empire believed it could rule the world by destroying Germany and Austria-Hungary. Even with involving the USA it failed to rule the world. Indeed it came quite close to collapse. Lately I frame international affairs by WW1. Economic interests got some of what was desired - Russia- but not all. Fast forwarding to Asia there were a number of important Western actors behind Communist China. An American relative of Maurice Strong was but one very important player. Now Daniel Ellsberg has been exposed as hiding the lucrative drug trade from the Golden Triangle. https://www.counterpunch.org/2003/03/08/will-the-real-daniel-ellsberg-please-stand-up/

The film was great. Well made. Quite realistic in a way Apocalypse Now was not.

Let me know when you see it. 42 years have come and gone and bits of the film stay with me - well actually under hypnosis I would recall but dreamy images stay. Until that film I had no idea Australia was in the war.

I reckon so. Still is. Afghanistan. Actually this goes back to China in WW2. Then at war end heroin showed up in the negro blues clubs and off to the races.
