Just as an aside to your main point, the Greeks were an alliance and in the original Greek text (well I assume that the Greek was the original but I've seen no reason not to) they're not Greeks so much but Daanans and Achaeans (and others). The above part of the Iliad (Hom. Il. 1.1) is directed against the Achaeans.

Also Iliad, or Ilios is etymologically very similar to the Greek word for sun. And the Greek plays the same game with sun and son as English does. And Apollo was all at sevens just as that guy from Iasos (also etymologically similar to sun) was.

Frank peppered my comments with similar statements btw. So what's your point about the sun? And any places where I can follow it up?
