I think that to many minds, and especially anyone successful in western schools, to find 'a truth' or 'the truth' is to find but a singular fact, a singular vision, a singular system. This is selected to the exclusion of what are seen all other facts, visions, or systems. In so doing these narrow truths all but choke us out if we disagree.
Just shows you that Eric Hoffer was a far more perspicacious thinker than the venerable AJP Taylor. Hoffer actually worked as a longshoreman when he noted down his observations on society while Taylor was (presumably) in his Ivory Tower.
I live not far from where Hoffer wrote and lived. He is I agree a more vibrant thinker. On the other side of the coin though Taylor can be applied to the idea of victim hood of national populations. Napoleon developed Total War and included everything as more or less a combatant. Taylor applied can point to this indirectly as saying you tolerated tyranny and violence and now having lost in this contest do not weep crocodile tears crying victim. Apply Taylor to Israel or the USA. Hoffer too can be applied but obedience does bring consequences

The ones who get the highest scores become the doctor, the lawyer, the Weffer.
What do you make of Eric Weinstein.
He is positioned as a Trump/ Vance/Thiel advisor.
I've gone off his brother, Brett, of course.
Why is there such a small pool of actors?
I’m not sure why people get the nod. Small groups must be tightly controlled
