Ginger Baker was a big fan of Fela. I saw some footage he made of Fela in an African nightclub. Fela was a very amazing musician. He and the Nigerian government(s) waged war but I think in the end he won by the sheer power of existing. Breadbox is a kind of reawakening for me from the time gone by when the sound of music was different. Lately I have been listening to the old time music recorded in 20's and 30's. Panhandle country sound. American Roots music. I have always had strong affinity with the 30's. My father during the Great Depression before he became a machinist after his Catholic college shut down hit the rails to send money home.
Yes my friend made up his mind in early 70's about many questionable issues and always had the million year view almost. He grew up in UK. A Royalist family though he is typically upper class Californian with a Yuval Harari mind in the body of a Scot. Does this UK class status explain behavior? Time to time I'm bumping into masked folk - rarely though in public outside-and amusingly only our old friend Steven was masked at first as well outdoors when we met. Steven is an elite South African moved to Canada by the family. He then attended the same elite prep school as an English Prince whose name evades me. Steven at 17 got involved with a female shrink a few years older for a while and ultimately moved to SF with her in the apartment I and Donald lived in after they broke up. Both have affluence and I not even hard tack. Both vaccinated. Both have fear.
I am not a cynic actually as I feel only due to humans being kind and compassionate beings is a human being possible. And yes of course any human being can have and hold tight to the evil inclination and some I see are never satiated, like a bucket with holes in the bottom is this personality, a hunger lying deep as glue for the fragments of a soul -always hungry for MOAR -
Now that Breadbox tune is a good tune. That Fela tune. Damn. Could there be anything as exciting, intoxicating, and inviting as those horns+saxes?

I know the type, and retain the deepest compassion for him. How are they to know any better; if knowing, trust any recourse?
