“Modern man wakes up to the fact that the elemental forces he has enslaved in his machinery are turning against him with ever growing, viciously destructive force.”
And it is said that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and so it will be with our Dear Mother, as she rears her aching, rufied head to deal with the contagion known as fallen man, or so I expect.
I will be pleasantly surfing the zuvuya, meanwhile. Hanging ten.
Possible as well is what I joking call Mars Men. James Blish wrote À Case of Conscience about a priest whose job was testing for Sentient Beings when Beings are encountered. Suppose this "human" priest was an amoeba specially machined by descendants of Mars Man who is technologically machined several times over and who in 2200 spread out to colonize a close by part of the Milky Way.
In 2500 this species has machined itself and successors many times over and at last the perfectly Illuminated Siddha can be born in the billions.
No. Just stepping back though and viewing humans as cattle to be bred which is how humanity arrived here is enough for me to say it will be done. People will be Borg assimilated and new niches will be explored. John Varley in SF exlored this human modification in his science fiction and D.G. Compton from a technological perspective did as well in his novel The Continuous Catherine Mortonhoe.
Normal in California surprisingly for 30 years or so was pro patient so visitors, some, can opt to be with someone if in a private room. Covid changed this until very recently. Masks though required in room are not enforced. Staff is not as paranoid as doctors. Doctors in Kaiser wear mask and face shield. Kaiser does not care that this is useless. The charade keeps vaccination going. I stay out of Solidarity. Judith is not a loner. I left for two hours to go home and do bank business. Told her.. I came back on time. She was calling her daughter complaining isolated and lonely she felt.
At home I would busy myself organizing apartment for her return. Say 8 hour job.
So it goes. Can't go forward and you can't stand still nor retreat. Victory is she lives.
And my psychology is more or less prepared. My wallet is not. Minimum medical supplies are close to $500. Insurance does not cover so far as I know.
Thus today I think I resolved my online banking issue.
In the near future I am offering a donation link. Maybe even tomorrow. I am also opening my online book store on Pango books. Right now 1 book of 38 sold netting me $4.00. Fairly sure we have 200 books that might sell.
Next is as I said Balzac. The man was a writing machine. If I take 10 hours a day generating writing for markets I bet I get more $ than book sales.

This is very concerning, the daughter should legally have no say, but she has the hospital's soldiers and generals to egg her on.
They have removed your wife's access to your strength at a time of great vulnerability.
Edit: oops I went back in *history* and have commented on the wrong post.
The medical care system is neither. My energy is sapped by this process. Two nights over night. Looking at a third 20 hours of 24 in this facility.
Do you have access to their internet?
It's not normal for hospital visitors to stay overnight in NZ, unless with a child.
I would not do it, speaking personally.

Difficult indeed.
But how long can you sustain the poor sleep that you will be getting at the hospital.
Someone needs to worry about your health too.
Are you selling off your treasured books.
