"Refresher" on this bloody period of the French history was led to by my contemplating and comparing Hitler to Napoleon (tbh its way over my cognition but I can't help myself) although it seems I can comprehend what I'm reading just fine, it is thinking of those events in the context of wider human history that does "my head in" (still, I enjoy the mental gymnastics). 2. I absolutely had no idea of any of what you have presented here and, I'm absolutely sure that if I had ever came across it in my past ( more serious studying times) I would have remembered.

Thank you. Like all exceptional humans, Churchill too wasn't what we've been presented with as. Glorification for political (and other) purposes has left us with a seriously distorted view of our own history.
