I recently listened to a Catholic priest’s speaking ( a podcast from Covid era lockdowns) about the role of fathers. I was struck by a statistic he quoted regarding children in families with a father who is a faithful mass goer, faithful Christian being more likely to continue following his footsteps ( faith), and that children of mothers ( sole parent - father is not absent, but not faithful christians) who are faithful Christians, are less likely to continue practicing their faith. It struck a chord.

In the black communities, the Baptist churches were once powerful. The preachers preached against freemasonry, out of wedlock liaisons, abortion, Planned Parenthood etc. Planned Parenthood had a hard time getting into those communities & indoctrinating women ( although there were out of wedlock children, abortion was not the norm).

But eventually, those churches became socialist/communist/‘humanist’ institutions rather than religious. And all the social ills were helped/created by a rain of drugs, etc. Grandparents stepped in to the role of parents ( thank God!).

I remember as late as the 80’s being impressed by the upright and solid ( black) grandparents at little league games. Grandfathers wearing very proper dress; blazers, and hats. Women in their finery going into their churches.

I think we have contributed to the downfall of society, by ignoring this threat, especially to those hovering at the bottom. ( thank you, LBJ, and co.) There are so many good hardworking black people; professionals, etc, who are not like the people taking to the streets.

But ‘we’ have allowed a scourge to be wrought upon them - the music industry, drug industry, etc. have all contributed. The advances in corporate culture ( advertising etc.) rolls like a steamroller crushing anyone in their path. Vigilance in parenting has fallen by the wayside through media now seems to be the pulpit for social engineering to take out fathers, the family unit, and to put greed, and an insatiable and unsavory appetite for everything that will wipe out the soul, and humanity.

Schools preach social ‘values’ - you know all the isms, rather than educating children. This seeps into all families one way or the other through a type of osmosis - all around us gathers the darkness.

We have to fight this attack on families. We have to get back on a path of moral, ethical, natural laws. We can’t do it if we turn a blind eye to ‘the others’. We are all one. What we allow to happen to the least, to the most vulnerable will be on our consciences. We must reach out to individuals that cross our paths with goodwill. Encouragement. A good word.

Mass media and mass dys-education created our world by 1955 when the book "Johnny Can't Read" warned parents regarding illiteracy and the rest is history. Long books have been written on why religious faith faded but my view is the above.

Yes! We read the series ( he wrote 3 I think), when our boys were children. Unfortunately we still enrolled them in the Berkeley public schools.

As an indifferent product of public education I was simply an avid reader. Funny though years later my wife was a substitute teacher in Marin and SF, public and private and parochial. I was shocked by the dismal education of the parochial schools with texts out of date 30-40 years. I was more shocked by private schools not needing a school library because they issued Ipads. If I were a go-getter there is a vast and deeply profitable charter school project which I'd love to create to educate youth. My wife and I discussed it off and on while she lived and talked with a few people but never got beyond investigation.

I was speaking to a friend who volunteers for the school our children attended and now our grandchildren - he has changed his opinion on education; and I agree. Sometimes an education is not just about outcome, it is also about presenting materials in such a way that it is dynamic, fun, if you will; and perhaps at a later date, these same students who may have been indifferent to the subject may recall that. And pursue further exploration. Fundamentally, educators are there to assist children in the foundation of their education. After the basics, some children won’t read, ( much on their own) until they’re older or see the value in some maths or science or studying the Odyssey, etc. But presenting material, having flexible ( but high enough) standards ( up to a point) when you have students with varying abilities and not alienating a ‘slow’ learner but engaging them may be a way to set the foundation into place for them when they are ready to explore these subjects on their own at a later date. It’s complex. And I believe some memorization ( long abandoned) is critical.

I am fond of the old Oxford educational model. Memorization is super critical. There simply is no will to have educated children and educated adults. Ellul writes extensively on the failure of education to do more than instill the values of Technocratic civilization.

So there's some sense in calling our corner of Substack part of a "truther" movement.

I don't like the label though, do you?.

Is it just the COVID scam that many refuse to realise or is it a mentality that they have always had but wasn't noticed.

Beauty has also been downgraded. Ugly is the new beauty.

Not wanting truth is not valuing honesty so dishonesty and crime logically follow.

Can't see how rioters can be stopped now when looting starts at the top.

True! I detest the representation as Truther. Of course I expect truth and not honeyed guile although honeyed guile like honey varies in quality.

Sinners always sooner or later create hell on earth - have you read the news!

Or been brain-washed (trance-induced) by just watching TV which is the post powerful brain-washing propaganda device ever invented.

But what are the origins of this mass psychosis.

Wilhelm Reich described this in two of his books Listen Little Man, and The Mass Psychology of Fascism. As did Jules Henry in his book Culture Against man.

The two world wars were a spectacular planet-wide dramatization of our collective psychosis - all of the Western states (etc) had "god on their side".

Western man (in particular) has always been deeply psychotic. Jack Forbes described this Wetiko psychosis in his book Columbus & Other Cannibals by Jack Forbes. The Wetiko psychosis is described in the three books by Paul Levy which are introduced here:

But when did the systematic destruction of the family, the once prosperous working class, and now the middle class begin - with the applied politics of the "great communicator" Ronald Reagan of course. http://thirdworldtraveler.com/Ronald_Reagan/Man_Who_Sold_The_World.html

The toxic ghost of Ronald Reagan has been invoked in support of this movement
