1. Virilio is wrong: military tech has always been the frontrunner of technological advancement, not the other way around.
2. Caution is always advised, when someone introduces a myth, perpetuated by a previous myth, in this case, "fascism." The current worldwide events make Italian and German Fascism irrelevant and obsolete. Such analogies are marks of a pseudo-intellectual. "Anti-Semite" is another such term.
3. Using a special jargon for ideas that can be easily be expressed suggests that the person has nothing new to say and/or is a member of a group that enjoy self-jubilatory statements or appearances. This is another mark of a pseudo-intellectual.
4. PV is employing the false public image of Nazi Germany. In fact, it is hard to take anyone seriously, who uses such mythology. "Anti-Semite" is another misleading term that confuses, instead of aiding in clarification.
To me, such people are highly irritating, because they are hiding behind myths instead of taking responsibility for their utterances... In fact, PV's statements look so confused that I suspect that female hormones are predominant in his mind. Of course, he might be out there for the simple purpose of confusing his audience. :)
5. As for the Finn, he agrees with Aristotle from Politics that democracy is the basest form of government, because it is rule by the mob. This is the reason why the US was born as a Republic (well, it an oligarchy now by Aristotelian terms) and the Constitution is supposed to guarantee fundamental rights irrespective of the ruling parties.
Moreover, Aristotle identifies the "Good King" as the best form of government. It is still a "dictatorship," but if it is corrupt, it can be corrupt only openly, as opposed to democracy, which is inevitable corrupt and the corruption is always clandestine or, at least, veiled.
Didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings; simply reflected on what I may have understood. My response is more of a reflection on my understanding than on the text. :)
My thoughts are 360 degrees. Originally I was from roughly 8 to 21 a person who was quite wrong on politics. Radical evil -despite historical evidence-I classified as an aberration. Today I think it is a feature of civilization. Now in the year of our Covid with mass murder mainstreaming and WEF building I would be unsurprised to learn demons control the show.
I am not sure how accurately I can put it, but it is your multi-faceted approach that I find captivating; a sincere approach that is open for the possibility of being wrong, but pursuing what might be right.
According to my observations, there are contents from a spiritual world that can be identified with for better or worse. Anger, as I mentioned in my previous article, seems to be one of them. The mystery of Evil is closing in on mankind and you are probably correct in the assumption that demons might be in control now.
The ones in Noah Hirari's lifeboat will start to eat each other.

Well. I disagree given tools came before war. Second he was a widely read theorist.
And he is French Catholic. https://www.frieze.com/article/how-philosopher-paul-virilio-1932-2018-spoke-age-acceleration-and-total-war

I usually let people sort it out.
No issues we discuss. I first read his book Pure War in 1983. Discovered by luck in a bookstore I worked in. Followed him since.
In contrast to Baudrillard who also has interesting observations I have found him more interesting for my research and reading.

Frankly, I am much more intrigued by YOUR thoughts. :)

Excellent background and commentary. So strange we the people still believe we won a victory over fascism in WW II.
