The mind is actually like a cutting tool, used by our perception to divide into small parts the things we "see." Mental knowledge is not true knowledge, it is a golden lid placed upon the face of the truth. Freedom is similar to a crucible to help smelt out the truth of life, it is essential for the evolution of consciousness. Freedom exists in a human modality as a physical outward manifestation of what is non physical on the inside.
All forms, mental, emotional or physical have a formless non physical energy standing behind it. Therefore, Freedom is an essential movement of our consciousness and cannot be considered with a metaphor of a "tail."

In my amusing idea not primordial freedom was lost but as myth bred out of this featherless,
tail lacking biped was the freedom of tailed thought. A strong preference to be unintelligent.
