In fact thinking over our brief exchange on ART I thought back to an example of public political art hosted in Union Square park across the street from Macy's. Statues honoring the "Missing Community College Student" and then an art show aside from this in a gallery on Sutter Street two blocks uphill. Also a protest against students being priced out by fee hikes and book costs. This is 2004. I would have to think about it some more but I am almost going to say after 9/11 protest art became a side show.
