Yeah that is the trouble. No one reads them books today. Thus I debate time and hassle of posting. 20 boxes left to sort for Saturday. I aim to tomorrow to take the bus at 10:15 AM go to beach arrive at 1:05 and veg out in 77 degree heat and 15 mph wind until 4:30 and las bus home.. Treat myself to a light lunch I'll pack or buy at the market by the beach. Have not visited in over 1 year.

I note NZ now rations health care so minorities come first. And I read that Sydney's main hospital is jammed. In California, in SF, hard to know why everything is for rent and thrift store donations do not appear greatly impacted. I go to elite thrift stores that donate to Symphony hoping for cheap expensive dress clothing. Not so cheap and not so much.

There always has been a majority of minorities as hospital and prison inmates.

I've already culled my library by half, one of the heartbreaking experiences I'd been through, more to do and had to be done. Got to be sensible and prepared lol ( not really, not laughing). Every now and then I look back at my life and sometimes find a little piece of the puzzle that makes me me that I am today.

I see that I've improving, as my consciousness and self awareness grew. I know I will return as the best of a human that I was able to become. And I'm at peace with that. My best wishes to you.

I have no room. No more boxes. If I am not able to shelve the books go. I have a lot of ebooks. Less space, :)

Different for me.

I saw what a whole lot of rubbish books I had.

Put them straight into the rubbish. Didn't take them to the charity shop.

Where did such books come from? Mostly given to me.

LoL, ok that wouldn't be too hard but mine were/are all mine, about 1/3 of it in Polish (philosophy, art, history) that my parents have brought to Australia for me at great expense, even I didn't ask, so it sure added to my misery. And I've always dragged them all whenever I moved and then adding some lol My son bought me Kindle when they came up but I never "took" to it. But now, of course the whole new way of acquiring knowledge is open for me and not enough time. Thanks for sharing

Cairn 😊 PS. I came to Oz with nothing, I think books were part of creating my new nest.

What do you think of the podcasters who have shelves of books as their backdrops.

Didn't realize that you lived in *The Lucky Country*.

Who could have guessed how that would turn out.

Do you think that the convict history of gaoler and prisoner had anything to do with the totalaristic response.

I am sorry to hear that you had to quit your books. True I would not like to part with ones from my mother for instance.

Although every day I think of my mother and it's almost like a weight dragging me down.

In my world I moved to SF with boxes of books. Some of those I am ridding myself of this week. Many I did 25 years ago. Blessed rage for order, making the empty nest a habitat, ridding myself of stagnant chi. Some books I am going to attempt selling online. Gardening, Bird books referencing non-SF Bay area. I have a number of books for sale now on Pango and even with a 50% off no bites. With luck Saturday excess furniture and book boxes leave for the Thrift shop. Otherwise I have to take a taxi and deliver them to Friends of the Library for them to sell.

Sounds like your sorting out of your gear is a good thing.

Except for the taxi fare.

Exactly why I arranged for thrift store who can pu. The big furniture I do not need which I intend to have picked up with books I hope. They contact me Friday to tell me time of day on Saturday. Kind of a liberating feeling to discard years of clutter.

I didn't intent to sound whiny and upset. It is what it is, natural progression in life. Still, I intend to leave some of them for my sons with hope that in their later lives they'll come to appreciate them or, maybe some other people will. I believe we should hold on to physical books, as the digital sources can be easily done away with. I think I have at least of a good decade in me so I can take my time doing this. I just don't want to leave too much "mess" behind. Apparently I was a precocious child, my love for printed word was born very early, and coupled with curiosity about almost everything it made a reading junkie out of me. Never had much appetite for other things, and well adjusted to life as I am and cherishing all my experiences I've always felt different (my son said: you never really found your crowd mum") and have always enjoyed my "otherness". So, here I am "spilling my guts" to some strangers across the world, oh dear, dear. Thank you for this. Cairn, as for the shelves of books as backdrops go, I'm always please to see it but very aware that for some it's just a gimmick especially when they're talking utter rubbish and you know that no way they've read many a good book in their life or, they haven't learnt from them. Then, there of course has been a lot of crap being printed as well. Oh dear! And, personally I do not believe our convict history plays much into today. The country is vast, there is "tyranny of distance", almost forty % of people were born overseas. It seems to me we are experiencing the same reality. Oh, the complexity of our human existence. Sending you both the warmest regards and wishes.

No no, just my wry disappointment that as objects of consumption a book requires certain factors my books cannot meet. Thus even online in six months 2 books sold for under $5.00 net. Out of 60. They would not sell at local book stores either so I am unsurprised. :). I need a magic wand. I hope the non profit works out Saturday lest I need a truck and two stout gents.

Online could work I think. Writing seems more probable as a third income. So I am lucky. One second job after living and as job and if it is the right one one has hopes of funding retirement. Writing too ought to do so. Ah it is such that Bidenomics is not very friendly Fascism now or near future.

Ratio is a bit extreme and I am really only sending you this link Marta so you can see the meme about fitting in.

"The more I awaken the less I desire to fit in".

It's those agreeable types who like to fit in who have gone along with all the clotshotting etc.

It turned out to be a big weakness of theirs that got exploited.
