I'm in total agreement with you, particularly when it comes to the current posturing for global superiority by warring nations. They know what's coming in the next couple of decades and are jockeying for position right now to control whomever survives the grande finale our star has in store for humanity. So why not kill off as many as possible before then? That'll just leave fewer to manipulate in the aftermath.
