Dystopia, I am convinced did not really convince me as able to overthrow civilization seemingly overnight until Covid. Learning so much in so little time about hardwiring the Singularity and so many other possibilities from injection for Covid I bow my head in dismay.

I reckon the Wyrd of the West is to be effaced. We are under a pall, even before the (Ukraine) war. Let's say that the management of the pandemic was the first test, then came the war, absolute alignment, the prohibition of criticism, the demonization of dissent. Other emergencies such as climatic, environmental, migratory ones, will require putting aside differences and, "for our good" aligning and accepting supervised democracy.

Let's go back to us, to human relationships that appear more complex because they evolve within canons of discontent that coincide with social, often psychic, discomfort. Once it was called alienation: how much is today a phenomenon attributable to exasperated capitalism (between finance and aggressive technology) which generates individualism and cuts off values such as solidarity, collaboration, humanity, acceptance of the other?

Capitalism has primary responsibilities especially since it has become a global and pervasive system that imposes its economic-financial, technocratic, consumerist diktats. Behind discontent is the factory of unlimited desires. Individualism kills all social ties, retreats into a mass pathological narcissism. It is from a rediscovered critical sense that the mutation of destructive discontent into energy for change, research and the foundation of a healthier relationship with reality can start.

As a fabulist thinking through it, my personal paranoia is safely locked in my invincible safe in the Iron Mountain facility 66 miles underground on Mt. Tam. As a speculative fiction taster I feel that the transition to 10g man begins. Greater than sea to land think Transhumanists. As a human fish I also grasp my aquarium is being drained a fish with no water learns breathing techniques so Samizdat shall save me. Klaus Schwab said something recently that got people’s hackles up.

“Artificial Intelligence, but not only artificial intelligence, but also, the metaverse, near-space technologies, and I could go on and on – synthetic biology. Our life in ten years from now, will be completely different, very much affected, and – who masters those technologies, in some way, will be the master of the world.”

Here’s the problem: he’s not wrong. People get pissed off when they hear statements like master of the world because they think it’s an empty threat; little more than the idle bluster of a megalomaniac. It most certainly isn’t. The reason why people don’t see what this technology is capable of is because, for one thing, they aren’t cursed with an overactive imagination, and for another, they aren’t used to holistic systems thinking, and lastly, there has been next to no mainstream media coverage of synthetic biology, because if there was, people would rightly …..find no gold at all.
