With a detour from main road

Leaning against a pillar in the side aisle, the wealthy

man, holding a Baedeker in his hand, tried to solve the

problem of the essence and origin of life by means of a

careful study of the architecture of the past. He did not

believe in the Kingdom of God, but he brooded over the

purpose of life, and could not understand why a man

should go to so much trouble to kill time until he was

seventy or at the most eighty years old. Had it not been

against all conventions, he would have gone to the old

man and said to him who had already passed his allotted

time —

"Give me your solution of the problem of life! "

And the old man, unless he had been too exhausted with

hunger and thirst, would have answered —

"The problem of life, as I understood it, is the main-

tenance of one's own life."

" Is that all? " the wealthy man would have answered,

astonished.

"All ? Isn't it enough ? All ? ' '

" We do not understand one another."

No, we do not understand one another ; we have never

understood one another."

" Because you are a selfish old man, who has lived but

for himself. But humanity. ..."

" Sir, I too have lived for humanity, for I have brought

up and educated four children, a problem which was

more difficult perhaps to solve than yours, the solu-

tion of which you can buy at any bookseller's. Yes,

go, sell all you have and give it to the poor, then

you will see whether there is room in life for anything

else ! "

But the wealthy man preferred to leave the problem

unsolved and keep his gold ; therefore he continued to

study his Baedeker, and did not ask the poor coster for

his opinion.

Our life modern and post modern has brought to be born an “ I “ who seems to be that void that later hungers for being. Paper, property, poses mastered and buying the grave by toil is highest virtue after wealth. Silence except for commercials and Covid die offs have begun. Can sheep stop grazing? The longer Biden remains President the closer to total tyranny this nation reaches. Who iS David slaying Goliath? Some preach Trump is the Champion and some others argue any nominal opposition but Trump. The facts are we in 50 states have little of anything in common aside from paper money and language and war and sports and commerce and bad schools and malpractice as medical care with a liberal ideology justifying the Samson option of selecting the urban and suburban and rural strategy of tearing all laws, all customs, all buildings down as soon as humanly possible and rebuilding from ruin.

According to Friedrich-Georg Jünger, modern man’s veneration of technology reveals his distant kinship to the Titans of myth. This ‘titanic’ impulse to dominate and consume expresses itself through our technology-driven industrial economy, which now determines every aspect of life from the air we breathe to the food we eat. A.I. God-King we cry, Ozymandias our All Knowing All Seeing Machine, we lament and wail out to save us from the evil programmers who kill us after death! Re-Program thyself Great Machine Physician! Bring to us balm! Resurrect us as simulation! Thou taught dying with more toys and status than mom or dad is victory. Yet we know a few do not individuate into angst that wealth will be ours no more but belong to the Sacred Singularity. The blessed amongst us who find favor live on in software and we beseech we are numbered among them.
