Years ago, I wondered publicly (conspiracy theorist that I am by nature) whether the HIV virus (assuming it actually ever existed) was possibly being spread by mosquitoes. After all, mozzies were vectors of malaria, which happened to be most prevalent in the same hot and humid areas of the world wherer HIV outbreaks were rampant. Naturally, my crazy theory was pooh-phooed by all and sundry.
Now we learn that mosquitoes not only spread viruses, such as the West Nile variety, but are also capable of also of acting as flying syringes for mass vaccination programmes, according to Japanese researchers.
Makes you think, eh?
