One small point on Truckers

To resist vaccine mandates is a good idea. However resistance requires money, organization, and a goal. What is the goal of the Truckers? Is it only to end vaccine mandates? Where does the organization arise to guide ending vaccine mandates, that is who is the organization and what objectives does it have in mind? Then the money, where does it go and what does it fund exactly?
I would like to share a bit of my story by way of explanation of the three questions. I do not know what is truth in regards to the Canadian truckers other than opposition to mandates and knowing that organizations and money make things roll. I know money is important. I worked in grass roots anti-war work tor ten years and did so as a fundraiser. Money did not come easy.
One group I worked with opposed to Contra Aid was as shoestring non governmental organization lobbying Congress to stop Contra Aid. Francis More Lappe’s organization (Diet for a Small Planet) was the original fiscal sponsor and they hired Fred Ross Jr. (son of Fred Ross Sr. who trained Cesar Chavez) the political mind who saved Diane Feinstein from being tossed out as Mayor. So clearly a solid Democratic party apparatchik. The concept was clever. Use grass roots organizers to stop Contra Aid in swing Congressional Districts. I admit I was rather skeptical. I had worked as a student lobbyist in Sacramento and was rather jaundiced. However, I decided to put my shoulder to the wheel. As I worked the phones calling swing districts across the country I heard disturbing news. Our organizers were astroturf. Destroying or not wanting to work with local peace groups. Ok. Not good. Bothersome. However the Contra War had to end. This motivated me. I put my dismay on the back burner. And then out of the blue we had a meeting with our D.C. lobbyist. Contra Aid could never die. D.C. loved it. The only way to end it —-wait for it, Vietnam logic, was to support Humanitarian Aid to the Contras. Yes this gave Democrats in D.C. political cover and was not strictly speaking military aid. Trying to sell this to the base failed.
The organization after the vote passed collapsed. I moved on to working with TecNICA, then after they collapsed San Francisco CISPES. These two groups failed in their goals for different reasons. TecNICA because upper middle class white liberals to keep the organization alive after the Sandinista lost power opted for helping the ANC. CISPES because of stupidity in a different direction. CISPES decided it was a good idea to buy expensive ads in subways and newspapers denouncing death squads. Pause for a moment and consider this well, next to a Jaguar ad and a Rolex watch ad you have soldiers and a dead body. Trivializing murder is the least I can say about this stupid and expensive strategy. About as stupid as the useless protest marches.
