I do wonder how long the English will tolerate the insanity without asking for a military dictatorship, or who knows some other governance strategy. I see England and I think of the shape of things to come. Thought crime, free speech hate crimes, or as in my case routine censorship on Anti-Social Media like Farcebook that censors Covid resistance TO THIS DAY! In the States we have a Junta and not President and VP as out of the loop as Biden. AND WE TOLERATE IT!

The sentence handed out to David Spring is the latest shocking example of how low the bar has now been set in terms of free speech in response to rioting that occurred after the murder of three girls in Southport last month.

Spring attended a demonstration of around 700 people in London on July 31 which turned disorderly.

Police bodycam footage that was played in court showed Spring calling police officers “cunts,” making “hostile gestures” and joining in with chants of “who the fuck is Allah” and “you’re not English anymore.”

While Spring’s behavior could be described as offensive and unruly, the fact that he will spent the next year and a half behind bars for saying mean words exemplifies how the UK has slipped into extreme authoritarianism in the space of just two weeks.

Civicus Monitor cites hostility towards campaigners and charities, and clamp down on public protests

The UK has been downgraded in an annual global index of civic freedoms as a result of the government’s “increasingly authoritarian” drive to impose restrictive and punitive laws on public protests.

The Civicus Monitor, which tracks the democratic and civic health of 197 countries across the world, said the UK government was creating a “hostile environment” towards campaigners, charities and other civil society bodies.

In 2024 a nuanced mild rebuke.
