It's commonly believed that the foreign policy propaganda from mainstream media is meant to influence the common people, whereas in truth the people running the government and mainstream media do not care what the common people believe since they have no real influence. The mainstream media's propaganda purpose is rather to influence the upper middle and the upper classes, people making a few hundred thousand dollars a year and upward are the only people who matter to the media and the politicians.
So the media and politicians pushing censorship are in reality not trying to keep the working class from being properly informed, they are trying to keep the donor class misinformed. They matter, e.g., lawyers, doctors, architects, corporate executives, government officials, and so on are the upper middle class, people making a few hundred thousand to a few million a year. Then there are the rich and very rich upper classes who are able to sponsor by themselves political candidates: people making 10 million a year and upwards either from a very high paying job, from stock dividends, or from inheritance. The media and the politicians are trying to keep them pacified under the directions of the very rich who either own the media outlet or own the politicians.
The opinions of the working class do not matter at all to the media and politicians, unless they are able, through the internet, to influence the upper middle class and upper classes by discussing events in a contradictory way to the mainstream media and politicians. That is the purpose of the censorship regimes being built the last handful of years.
Ever since the rise of the internet has given the average person the ability to influence how the upper classes understand "the narrative," the media and political class under the direction of the "power elite" have been trying to bring an end to an open and free speech internet.

A three-part MRC Business series on Soros exposed the major influence that George Soros wields within the international media. The January 2023, study, “George Soros: Propaganda Powerhouse,” found that the billionaire had funneled a whopping $131 million into 253 media outlets spread across the globe between 2016 and 2020 alone.
The journalism groups that Soros supports have the ability to mold public opinion on practically every continent and in many languages. They also insulate him from inquiry because reporters see him as an ally, not a target for investigation. The study also found 54 highly influential leftist media figures connected to Soros through different organizations he funds that they’re affiliated with, such as NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt, CNN Chief International Anchor Christiane Amanpour and The Washington Post executive editor Sally Buzbee.
Oh wait there is more-Over time, both the number of media outlets and concentration of ownership have increased, translating to fewer companies owning more media outlets.[3]

The Journal of Lingering Sanity is a reader-supported publication. We are beholden to truth not party. “The time has come," the Journal said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax— Of cabbages—and kings— And why the sea is boiling hot— And whether pigs have wings."
Buzzword "equity" exists in social media. Or maybe it's a meritocracy.
The person who can write or video engagingly can have reach far beyond the limit of their income.
Dangerous indeed the voice of the common people, when we hear them more loudly than the establishment types.
Substack authors influence me more than my lawyer neighbours - in fact my lawyer neighbours are shown up as non-thinking, going on out of date information, club membership fools.
Learning Linux. FreeGeek.org has nice cheap computers that are already Linux'd. Freegeek is a small organization that teaches folks to work on computers and turns computer donations into sellable items; my laptop was under $200. Now, to learn the dang thing. Bye Bill.
