You are as I am in a time container.
We exist eternally and experience the Now in it’s roundness filling up with existence blocs.
Our Now is under the star constellation Covid-19. Learned Astrologers lecture on the uniqueness of the contents of this Constellation, the extremely surprising composition of it’s stars and as consequence it’s unusually malefic invisible influence scything us down in the womb and after. Some observe it truly is not of this Galaxy and tomes are filled with proof. Others who are wise say nothing and point to patches of the sky all black and frown in warning that Authorities do far too little to save civilization from dark star ruin. And then seekers, lost children without signposts, mingle together and discuss the stars and wait for Big Daddy, Big Mom, Big Sis, Big Brother to speak the truth or their noble lie.
A time we can call Die Wende. Walls around nations have fallen. Manunkind is forced to wake. Ah that was 1919. Farewell, ghosts! The world no longer needs you -- or me. By giving the names of progress to its own tendency to a fatal precision, the world is seeking to add to the benefits of life the advantages of death. A certain confusion still reigns; but in a little while all will be made clear, and we shall witness at last the miracle of an animal society, the perfect and ultimate anthill."
No one can say what will be dead or alive tomorrow, in literature, philosophy, aesthetics; no one yet knows what ideas and modes of expression will be inscribed on the casualty list, what novelties will be proclaimed.
Hope, of course, remains -- singing in an undertone:
Et cum vorandi vicerit libidinem
Late triumphet imperator spiritus.
But hope is only man's mistrust of the clear foresight of his mind. Hope suggests that any conclusion unfavorable to us must be an error of the mind. And yet the facts are clear and pitiless; thousands of young writers and artists have died; the illusion of a Terran culture has been lost, and knowledge has been proved impotent to save anything whatsoever; science is mortally wounded in its moral ambitions and, as it were, put to shame by the cruelty of its applications; idealism is barely surviving, deeply stricken, and called to account for its dreams; realism is hopeless, beaten, routed by its own crimes and errors; greed and abstinence are equally flouted; faiths are confused in their aim -- cross against cross, crescent against crescent; and even the skeptics, confounded by the sudden, violent, and moving events that play with our minds as a cat with a mouse . . . even the skeptics lose their doubts, recover, and lose them again, no longer master of the motions of their thought.
The swaying of the ship has been so violent that the best-hung lamps have finally overturned. . . .
What gives this critical condition of the mind its depth and gravity is the patient's condition when she was overcome.
In 2020 the emergency detour became the only civic road. All other roads closed. You must on pain of prosecution OBEY the detour which now is the indispensable road to the radiant future we shall build back better with one united political party in possession of Absolute Truth. And all detours become your ship of dreams. A Sargasso of not-life becalms the magical boat. To sail is forbidden without endless documentation and unimagined hardship from simply raising sail moored in port arises from the health authorities contact tracing amebas and birds you came in contact with long ago.
Mike Adams calls this period Ghost World. The deaths and the absence of a once familiar past create this nostalgia of being living in
As a matter of fact I like this designation. Thich Nhat Than called out the Hungry Ghosts living amongst us and my daily Substack is filled with the stories this world holds. Mike is selling hard core survivalism much to my mirth. A long time ago under Ronald Reagan Robert Scheer interviewed an Under Secretary of Defense regarding nuclear war. Thomas K. Jones (he preferred to be called “T. K.”), the deputy under-secretary of defense for research and engineering, strategic and theater nuclear forces, died at 82. He became famous in 1982, when, in an interview with the LA Times, he argued that if the United States had a more robust civil defense, most Americans would survive an all-out Soviet nuclear attack. “You can make very good sheltering by taking the doors off your house, digging a trench, stacking the doors about two deep over that, covering it with plastic so that rainwater or something doesn’t screw up the glue in the door, then pile dirt over it.” He added: “It’s the dirt that does it.” He concluded the interview by saying: “Turns out with the Russian approach, if there are enough shovels to go around, everybody’s going to make it.”
I mean really here on Substack, like Facebook, like other venues we talk and talk and talk, some talking heads make dinero, others make a name, none organizes lawless resistance to illegal government because of obvious reasons and none of the lawful resistance prevents the continual crime. We drown in our knowledge of what happened, what is happening, and what will continue to happen and we watch and wait for what will come and the pedlars sell their wares to help light our way back to where we came but not our road ahead.
Our decisions make our road. To hear and learn and be reassured we are in fact fighting an illegal Occupation in control of all departments of culture, science, and governance does not seem though to make us stronger but kill the will to be enraged and engaged.
We hear that with enough shovels put to work we better build back or die watching TV news or Netflix. We do not hear a call for action.
Nor do I know what words are best to use aside from Abracadabra and now with enough chanting not only is the Pentagon levitated but fallen freedom rises too.

I will try to share with you some thoughts on the resistance and the civil war. I am not reminding you that a right of resistance already exists in the ancient world, which has a tradition of praising tyrannicide, and in the Middle Ages. Thomas summarized the position of scholastic theology in the principle that the tyrannical regime, insofar as it substitutes a partisan interest for the common good, cannot be iustum . The resistance - Thomas says the perturbatio - against this regime is therefore not a seditio .
It goes without saying that the matter necessarily entails a degree of ambiguity as regards the definition of the tyrannical character of a given regime, as evidenced by the caution of Bartolo, who in his Treatise on Guelphs and Ghibellinesdistinguishes a tyrant a ex defectu tituli from a tyrant ex parte exercitii , but then has difficulty in identifying a iusta causa resistendi .
This ambiguity reappears in the discussions of 1947 on the inclusion of a right of resistance in the Italian constitution. Dossetti had proposed, as you know, that the text included an article that read: "Individual and collective resistance to acts of public power that violate fundamental freedoms and the rights guaranteed by this constitution is a right and a duty of citizens."
