Power outages have been reported across multiple locations in Argentina March 1 due to a fire that affected service at the Atucha I nuclear power plant. Disrupted service has also been reported at the Central Puerto power plant. Reports indicate over six million households, and approximately 20 million people, have been affected in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan area and multiple provinces, including Santa Fe, Mendoza, Neuquen, and Rio Negro. Officials indicate service is slowly returning in areas of the country's northeast. However, they have not given an estimated timeframe for when services will be fully restored.
Disruptions to local transport, businesses, and telecommunications are likely into at least early March 2. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages. Public transportation, especially train and metro services, are also likely to be affected. https://crisis24.garda.com/alerts/2023/03/argentina-power-outages-reported-in-multiple-locations-march-1-due-to-disconnected-nuclear-power-plant
Red emergency alert on our cell phones not even 40 minutes ago with the entire city area and a several mile radius as being in danger and possible evacuation pending.
We are miles away but its interesting the red alert. This is a major deal too, because the large population density. Sure feels so many global events are happening to destroy life as we know it.
