Yesterday I observed Substack was somewhat skin to Underground papers. On the other hand it also has an amusing resemblance to BBS and FB. I hoped for deeper discussions and dialogue, a fantasy since those college seminar classes and my cafe days. I am finding for instance mild or even deep disagreement provokes mixed responses depending on the Stack. Not infrequently hostility is provoked from stipulating with reasons why x is not the case from my view. People prefer agreement. Or they prefer only the opinion go unchallenged. Twas the same 30 years ago on BBS and on FB today. Tis true of the Body Politic as well if one is surrounded on all sides by Partisans. Free speech is always unwelcome. Look at Socrates.
In this case on Substack individual sites not the site entire. FB site entire is scrubbed and policed Just the other day some Covid science piece I posted on FB was slapped with disinfo. I am doing that daily diary for certain. A Newer Journalism harkening back to Montaigne. And his many imitators. So the umbrage taken by a Stack Holder this morning is my complex thought on the Ukraine. Always evolving every fresh but always trying to know the ball players teams and what that means in general. So rather than rah rah Russia I say seems to me that Russia is all in with WEF, but not in our way of being all in. And I drag in Dugin whose new book Great Awakening to Great Reset I enjoyed though not finding him my personal thought leader...Dugin points out the war is between Modernity and Tradition.
