Motherboard has had access to one of the instruction manuals that Palantir offers to the police. As they have been able to find out, more than 300 cities in California (totaling around 7.9 million inhabitants) can request information from the NCRIC organization that obtains it from Palantir. The police departments of New York, New Orleans, Chicago or Los Angeles also use this software, as Bloomberg was able to find out last year to create digital profiles.

As shown in the instruction manual that is distributed to the police, Palantir collects all kinds of information available about a person. On the one hand, he obtains civil information such as his name, age, postal address, identity number or car registration. On the other hand access to digital information such as email, phone number, travel history by plane or photographs on the Internet. He is even able to assign "possible family members" and other possible relationships to each person.
