Actually I wonder now if Altruism is fundamental for a human civilization. A people is not civilized, not fully human in the sense of Rene Dubos who wrote “So Human An Animal” or in the sense of the Sufi “A man is just an animal unless he has a guide.” So the spiritual freedom of Altruism is deeply human. A human is not a killer ape. Since it is Christmas we can see as did Berdyaev regarding that religion of Altruism called Christianity. The religion of freedom.
