Can't go home to work again at 67 because why bother to exploit me when a younger micro serf applied too and thus fits the bottom line beancounter budget better than an old white guy with his own peculiar point of view. And not that I begrudge the employer this economic strategy. I well understand short term profit. The overall spend strategy on employees is to generate monster cash flow. Cash is for snacks, corporate getaways, and team bonding. After hours bonding without pay but one free drink, bowling and karaoke and once each month pizza and ping pong and no host bar! Now in San Francisco the jobs hiring pre-pandemic seeing nothing but dollar signs did go one step further and said family dog and babe in arms were also welcome in the workplace.

Younger micro serfs will likely cack out whilst spiking it at the volleyball retreat. Companies may come crawling back, but I will be hunkered down in my bunker, or 4 wheeled perhaps, with any luck. Isn't the new retirement age never?
