  Joe Biden sat for a final interview with Lawrence O’Donnell of MSNBC this weekend. Unfortunately for them, very few people tuned in to watch. The broadcast was eclipsed in ratings in the most important demo by reruns of shows like Seinfeld and Family Guy. This is just another confirmation that the vast majority of the country is done with Joe Biden. FOX News reports:

  It is a fact that we should never tire of reflecting on that one of the key terms in our political vocabulary – revolution – was taken from astronomy, where it designates the movement of a planet in its orbit. But another term that, in the general tendency to replace political categories with economic ones that characterizes our time, has taken the place of revolution, comes from astronomical vocabulary. We mean the term «conjuncture», to which Davide Stimilli has drawn attention in an exemplary study.
  This term, which designates «the phase of the economic cycle that economic activity goes through in a given period of short duration», is in reality a modification of the term «conjunction», which means the coincidence of the positions of several stars at a given moment.
  Stimilli quotes the passage from Warburg's essay on Ancient Pagan Divination in Texts and Images of the Age of Luther , in which conjunction and revolution are brought together: «Only within vast periods of time, called revolutions, could one expect such conjunctions. In a carefully devised system, great and maximum conjunctions were distinguished; the latter were the most dangerous, due to the meeting of the superior planets Saturn, Jupiter and Mars. The more conjunctions coincided, the more terrifying the fact appeared, although the planet with the most favorable character could influence the worst». And it is significant that precisely a revolutionary like Auguste Blanqui, disappointed in his expectations, was able to conceive at the end of his life the history of men as something that, like the motion of the stars, repeats itself infinitely and eternally recites the same representations.
  What is happening before our eyes today is precisely such a phenomenon, in which an economic situation, contingent and arbitrary by nature, seeks to impose its terrifying dominion over the whole of social life. It would be good, then, to drop without reservation the connection between politics and the stars and to sever in every sphere the bond that claims to bind together astronomical destiny and revolution, necessity and economic situation, natural sciences and politics. Politics is not inscribed in the celestial spheres or in the laws of economics: it lies in our weak hands and in the lucidity with which we deny every claim to imprison them in situations and revolutions.
