American military spending is unstoppable. Congress capitulates. Presidents proudly sign laws keeping the money spigot on. And the Public only asks for a dime to go to widows and orphans. And then after haggling agrees with their exhausted representatives the politics is a good deal-two pennies per $19,000 direct Union labor Made-In-USA military purchases. Not $30,000 as proposed by Sec. of Defense.
The U.S. has dropped a ghastly $146 billion on Afghanistan reconstruction in the last two decades and billions more continue to be spent, but the Biden administration is blocking federal auditors from conducting their congressionally mandated job of investigating where the money is going. For months the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) has been trying to investigate the abrupt collapse of the U.S.-backed government in Afghanistan, if the State Department is complying with laws and regulations prohibiting the transfer of funds to the Taliban and ongoing humanitarian programs supporting the Afghan people. However, the State Department and its offshoot, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), refuse to cooperate as required by law.
Let's not forget the $80b military hardware left in Afghanistan...
Of course, as the article states, the "aid" to Ukraine is over $40b and it cannot be tracked down, as anything else in the last 20 years... There are established channels there for money laundering and Afghanistan cannot do much of that anymore. I wonder what happened to the poppy trade from which the US shadow government had been so profusely profited. What is replacing it? Taxpayer's debts that will never be repaid? The new digital USD coming soon?
The public is supposed to pay for the new weapons that will not be any better than the ones abandoned and/or given away.
