I did canvassing in my 20’s and early 30’s. Tabling is standing behind an ironing board pitching your political issue and usually gathering signatures and asking for money. So I did this work for Californian’s Against Waste to get a bottle bill to reduce throw away beverage containers, for the Nuclear Weapons Freeze, for Students United for Peace. I went to door to door to get irrigation water cleaned up from drinking water and when the canvass closed in Sacramento I moved to SF to escape hot August of plus 100 degree weather. In SF I canvassed door to door on the water issue, then to stop Contra Aid, then to send technically skilled volunteers to Nicaragua and the four Frontline States of South Africa, then I ran the phone canvass for SF CISPES to get political prisoners out of torture chambers using letters, phone calls, faxes. Then at 33 a thought arose and I became a Paralegal. After breaking my arms - both - my 5 year stint ended and I, with zero business sense and frankly no killer instinct, became a loan officer for 12 years, then a .com sales rep. A brief interlude being on the phones to stop Gulf War 1 as SCUDS hit Jerusalem.
All along this way reading philosophy, politics, history and literature and if possible holding forth in Mission District cafes with free form conversations going for hours.
Once upon a time in the West.
Even better for a boulevardier I lived in the Mission. No commute required.
Such it was 30 years ago when I felt fighting the power was absolutely necessary for survival.

I think I am banned for life. The reason is comments. Comments most unwelcome. I would for instance if I could comment on this pernicous lie: Uvalde, Texas, elementary school shooting & police; you may not like my view but its my view now today; IMO, it was fear by police, they were scared, BUT they decided purposely to NOT help those kids
