I am not a Christian but raised Methodist in the secular California suburban wilderness of pain surrounded by Christian sects and a few New Age groups the idea set in that the religion like Scientology was for everyone. The suburban Galleria shop till drop could replace the need for mystic connection especially in Bay Area California studded with military bases and hard working union employees in military service. And Universities and Contractors and hangers on as well making a profit. All boats lifted on the rising and falling swells of Kommerz and Krieg in a maternal Bourgeoise world ruled by 4 breeds of pig. As an avid reader with over active imagination I see in other lives from other worlds a semblance to my own. 65 years on my head in this American life in time of Covid-19 plague whiling away my time dreaming philosophy and looking out on the world gone mad. 49 years after Roe v Wade only not quite 64,000,000 million abortions. My Governor and his wife have children. They came on TV to say how happy they are about the deaths. I do not know how many mother’s lives were saved by the sacrifice. The Governor and his wife did not say. I wonder in ten years if 5 billion die from the Great Covid Reset anyone will have a TV. Or if anything about the atomic age will remain save rubble.
How close and yet how far from 1908.
Here is Leon Bloy. “ I am sorry I cannot put myself forward to my ambitious contemporaries as an authentic revealer. The minding of mysteries is not my concern, and the custody of Future Events has certainly not come my way. Besides, prophets now-a-days are so completely lacking in miracles that it appears impossible to discern who they are."(l)
Bloy would be considered a prophet in sense, when he says:
"The idea becomes the main thing, the particular form of the idea - the clothing of imagery or detail it receives is less essential,..In the prediction of distant events to which existing conditions no longer apply, there is no alternative but that these should be presented in the form of the present. This is a principle which runs right through all prophecy where the future state of the Kingdom of God is concerned. It would serve no end, and is, under ordinary conditions, psychologically inconceivable that the prophet should be lifted out of all the forms of his existing consciousness, and transported into conditions utterly strange and inapprehensible by him. Such a revelation would, in any case, have been incommunicable to others. We have, in the earthly condition^ the same difficulty in picturing to ourselves the conditions of a heavenly state.
But Just as supersensible realities cannot be conceived or spoken of by us except under forms of symbol or figure drawn from earthly relations, so prophecy of the future, or of a better dispensation, must necessarily picture that future, or those new conditions, in forms drawn from the present."(2)
In thetradition of Elijah, Isaiah and Jeremiah; and in particular in light of that passage Bloy is a. prophet in the symbolism of suffering and money. https://era.ed.ac.uk/bitstream/handle/1842/35180/MayA_1951redux.pdf?sequence=1&isAllowed=y
