Kathy", I said as we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh
"Michigan seems like a dream to me now"
It took me four days to hitchhike from Saginaw
I've gone to look for America
I went out door to door in politics in my early 20’s to get rocket fuel out of irrigation water. Tabled to stop deployment of the MX-Missile. Worked for student doctors to have safe labs with instructions for cleaning hazards. Ensure proper ventilation of lab coats instead of lab to unventilated lecture hall. Kept going in San Francisco despite my dim view of the political process taking it as better than open war a la Ukraine.
And on Election Day I still think so. A dismal view of the expropriation of daily life by politics as usual and a more dismal view of the end of the highway two years into the Insanity. Looking at the list below no mention of Civil Liberty loss as a concern, nor a concern about Mandatory vaccines. Nor a concern over infrastructure collapse. Nor say the death of a country. Not a big deal, keep the lights on and gas stations (sigh) open and let me fly away….
Ah you begin with lyrics from one of our favorite songs and frequently on our playlists. The things we face now on this chessboard are reflective of what we faced in 1970’s SF Bay Area and across the planet going forward. The only way back is back and the chess game strategies, this three dimensional game of GO, extends to roots we only began to touch on in the 60’s and 70’s. Our forays into music, politics, back to the land, natural food and water politics, human potential, spirituality and such were really important and more so today in 2022.
